Lake Wapogasset

Lake Wapogasset is a family of 4 camps located in the forests and lakes of Wisconsin and Minnesota. Each camp (Wapo, Ox Lake, Luther Dell, and Wilderness Canoe Base) offers a different outdoor experience, but they all share the same spiritual mission. Wapogasset came to us in the spring of 2010 for help in updating their brand and overhauling their website. We successfully balanced the need for each camp to have a unique identity while retaining a seamless user experience throughout the site.

Five Logos

To start a conversation with the client, we provided a series of rough sketches showing various directions we could go with the brand. After narrowing it down to a single approach with the client, we designed a logo for Lake Wapogasset first. We followed with the four camp logos, ensuring that each individual brand stood on it’s own while remaining consistent with our overall look and feel. We enjoyed drawing inspiration for the camp logos from old travel posters and vintage National Park Service displays.

website planning

Proper Planning

Before we designed a single page, we poured over Lake Wapo’s current site, realigning content and building a new site map from scratch. Paragraphs were trimmed, pages were reorganized, the navigation was tidied up and the message was honed.

Four Camps, One Website

Once we established the core style for the homepage, we designed separate layouts for each of the four camps. Different colors, graphics and textures help to define the individuality of each camp while keeping a consistent look throughout.
